We have advised on a broad spectrum of sports law issues, including:

  • anti-counterfeiting investigations;
  • brand protection and exploitation;
  • broadcasting agreements;
  • defamation;
  • merchandising and licensing agreements;
  • on-line sporting ventures;
  • player disciplinary issues;
  • sponsorship agreements;
  • sports event management;
  • team transfer and competition rules;
  • ticketing arrangements;
  • trade mark and design registration; and
  • venue agreements.

Extensive sports law experience

We have a significant history with our involvement in sport, notably, acting for many years for Australia's 'Greatest Sportsman of the Century', the late Sir Donald Bradman, acting for The Bradman Foundation, acting for Cricket Australia since 1982, having advised on the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles (and subsequent Olympic Games), on the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 and on the 1992 World Cup of Cricket in Australia (and subsequent World Cups). Today we continue to act for a number of key industry participants, details of which appear overleaf.
