Examples of trade finance work in which Allens Arthur Robinson has recently been involved include:
Conagra Foods grain financing
Advised a syndicate of Rabobank, Commonwealth Bank and BNP Paribas in
providing approximately A$350 million in finance to Grainco Australia under a
security trust arrangement which incorporated a variety of securities over grain
inventories, grain trading contracts and other assets.
Soufflet grain purchase and sale agreement
Acting for Rabo Australia Ltd in its grain purchase and forward sale
agreement with deposit mortgage.
Grain purchase facility
Acted for Ridley AgriProducts (a subsidiary of Ridley Corporation) on a grain
purchase facility with Soft Commodity Trading (a division of Rabobank).
State Street Bank's trade finance portfolio
Advised Suncorp Metway on the purchase of a trade finance portfolio from
State Street Bank. This involved conducting all due diligence work and drafting
the new trade finance agreements for distribution to former State Street Bank
clients, including alterations to current security arrangements.
Trade finance facilities work in Singapore
Acted for the Singapore branches of Westpac and NAB in relation to
negotiation, documentation and review of a wide range of trade finance
facilities, including LC issuance, bonding and forfaiting.
Trade finance matters in Hong Kong
Advised the Hong Kong branches of Westpac, ANZ and NAB on a wide range of
trade finance issues. We have also acted for a number of corporates with trade
finance issues in Hong Kong.
ANZ trade finance matters in China
Advising ANZ on all of its trade finance issues in China.
BHP Billiton
Advised BHP Billiton on its first entry into the Chinese
market with downstream trading and logistics management of their products.
Telco equipment sale
Acted for ANZ on the financing of a telecommunications equipment sale by
Alcatel into China.
BNP Paribas projects
Advice to BNP Paribas on a range of commodity and trade financings, including
petroleum, vegetable oil and grain.
Qantas aircraft financing
Acted for the US Exim Bank on the export credit financing of five new 737-800
aircraft for Qantas.
ADI trade financing facilities
Acted for ADI Limited and Thales SA (then Thomson CSF SA) on the provision of
trade financing facilities to ADI Limited.
IP1 trade financing facilities
Acted for Marconi and Pirelli Cables on the provision of vendor financing
facilities for the IP1 fibre optic cable network in Australia.
Integral Treasury Corporation new trade finance product
Advised Integral Treasury Corporation on the development of an innovative
trade finance product and the funding of it, initially through a warehouse stage
and then through a securitisation.
GSM Public Land Mobile Network
Acted for BNP Paribas on its US$135 million export credit facility for
financing the GSM Public Land Mobile Network to be supplied by Alcatel CIT.
Heilongjiang Telecommunications project
Acted for ANZ in the structuring and provision of a US$60 million buyer
credit facility to finance telecommunications and digital switching equipment
supplied by Alcatel SA for the establishment of 19 telephone exchanges in
Heilongjiang Province, China. The project required the development of a new
flexible structure for financing capital equipment for China infrastructure
projects.
PRC Bank of Communications
Advised on a European country export credit loan for the Shanghai government
utility through the Bank of Communications.
