Advised on land-fill gas projects in
China. This included advising on management of land-fill sites, management and conversion of the gas emissions
to electricity, and on the potential for the project to obtain clean development
mechanism approval.
Chevron Corporation
Advised on the Chuandongbei sour gas project, a
coal-bed methane joint venture with China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC). The
deal, to develop and operate a gas field in western China in cooperation with CNPC, is China's largest onshore natural gas joint venture involving a foreign
partner.
Confidential client
Advising on a confidential investment in the renewables
sector in China. Our role included reviewing fund offer documents and
information memoranda, as well as providing advice on the renewable/clean energy
sector in China.
Essent Energy
Advised on the purchase of certified emission credits
from Ngoi Duong project, a proposed Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) hydropower plant in
Vietnam.
Green investment company
Currently acting for a specialist green
investment company putting together a number of CDM projects in China, including
three potential coal mine methane projects. Our involvement
includes providing advice on the regulatory aspects and structuring of these
projects, preparing all the relevant documentation and undertaking negotiations with the relevant Chinese parties.
Keppel Corporation
Advising on one of the largest waste-to-energy
projects in South-East Asia. Allens is providing advice in relation to the
various legal structures through which this project can
be implemented.
Multinational client
Advised a high-profile multinational in relation
to its potential investment as anchor sponsor in a China-focused clean energy
fund. Our work included advising on the CDM process, as well as undertaking a
review of specific clean energy sectors in China to highlight potential
opportunities, incentives and regulatory issues.
Roaring 40s
Joint venture between China Light & Power and Hydro
Tasmania. Advised on the procurement of wind turbines in China, including
advising on the preparation of standard wind turbine supply and maintenance
agreements.
