Court finds Mayne infringed Pharmacia patent
August 8 – Justice Crennan of the Federal Court of Australia has ruled that Mayne's chemotherapy cancer drug, Epirubicin, infringes an Australian patent owned by a Pfizer subsidiary, Pharmacia Italia. Mayne has said that it will not appeal the decision. The court has granted an injunction against Mayne, including against it using Epirubicin. The terms of the final injunction are pending.
