The RAARmones to blitz in charity rock event
6 October 2005
The spirit of iconic '70s punk band the Ramones will be rocking at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 15 October when Allens Arthur Robinson band the RAARmones takes to the stage in the name of charity.
Featuring partner John Baartz, senior associate Andrew Cardell-Ree, lawyer Andrew Cameron, law graduate Nicholas Ng, and Chris Barlow from the firm's corporate services department, the RAARmones will be one of 10 acts participating in Boardroom Blitz, a fundraising event for the Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland.
John Baartz said the group was looking forward to shedding their corporate suits and getting into the spirit of the night, including dressing up in the Ramones' signature outfits of denim and leather.
'It's a fantastic night. We get to have a lot of fun playing before a big audience while also raising money for charity,' he said.
'We chose the Ramones because the night has a '70s theme and the Ramones are an iconic '70s band. I am sure our covers of some of their best-known songs will get people up onto the dance floor.'
Now in its third year, Boardroom Blitz has raised more than $80,000 for the Cerebral Palsy League.
This year's theme is 'Studio 54 Revisited', so the entrants, which include bands from the legal, accounting, recruiting, hospitality, mining and architecture industries, will be playing the hits of the '70s. The night will be hosted by 1970s rocker Wilbur Wilde.
This is the second year that AAR has participated in the event. The Cerebral Palsy League is also one of the organisations that AAR financially supports through the firm's Charity Committee.
