Allens Arthur Robinson wins International Deal of the Year Award

News Corp Reincorporation judged most significant international deal.

Leading legal firm Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) collected the International Deal of the Year Award at the Australasian Legal Business (ALB) Deals of the Year 2005 Awards ceremony over the weekend. The award was presented to AAR for its work with client News Corp in its successful reincorporation from Australia to the USA.

AAR Managing Partner Tom Poulton said: 'We're pleased to have worked so closely with News Corp on its reincorporation. It was an involved matter and its positive conclusion is a significant success for both News Corp and ourselves.

'We're proud that News Corp put its trust in Allens Arthur Robinson for what was a sensitive and legally intricate matter.

'Receiving the International Deal of the Year Award underlines our expertise in matters that cross national boundaries,' Mr Poulton said.

The AAR team, led by Partner Andrew Clarke, shared the award with Allen & Overy, Hogan & Hartson, Minter Ellison and Arnold Bloch Leibler who fulfilled other roles in the transaction.

AAR shared in a total of nine Deal of the Year awards:

  • Construction Deal of the Year: Mitcham to Frankston Freeway
  • Asset Finance Deal of the Year: Foxtel Network Digitisation
  • Infrastructure Deal of the Year: Dampier to Bunbury natural gas pipeline acquisition- Epic West
  • Media and Entertainment Deal of the Year: News Corp Reincorporation
  • Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year: Zinifex IPO/ Pasminco reconstruction
  • Securitisation Deal of the Year: Adelaide Bank Wrap deal
  • Debt (and Equity-Linked) Deal of the Year: Sydney Airport Refinancing
  • Equity Deal of the Year: Shearwater - Establishment of DUET and Subsequent JV
  • International Deal of the Year: News Corp Reincorporation.
