Allens' Brisbane practice gains corporate specialist27 March 2008 Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) has appointed Chelsey Evans as a corporate partner to the firm's Brisbane office. Welcoming Ms Evans to the firm, Allens' Queensland Practice Director, Erin Feros, said that Ms Evans would play an integral role in further developing the firm's Queensland corporate practice, specifically focusing on her specialities of M&A and Capital Markets. 'Over her career, Chelsey has advised a number of Australia's leading public companies, including BHP Billiton, News Corporation, Southcorp, and Woolworths, on major transactions and we are indeed fortunate to have Chelsey back and able to offer that sort of expertise to the Queensland market,' Ms Feros said. Ms Evans has joined Allens from Clayton Utz in Sydney. However, she formerly worked for Allens as a lawyer in the firm's Corporate and Commercial Dept in both the Brisbane and Sydney offices for several years, having commenced her career in Brisbane in January 1996 as an articled clerk. Ms Evans also has commercial experience in Hong Kong, where she worked on secondment with a Hong Kong client for 18 months. 'It's great to be back in Brisbane with the firm and working closely with many of the partners and lawyers I spent the early part of my career with,' Ms Evans said. 'The Queensland economy is presently booming, and it is a great time to be right in the mix working with our clients as part of the business community when so much is happening here,' she said. 'I'm also looking forward to becoming actively involved with our Queensland client care program and to working as a relationship partner with a number of clients in the program.' Ms Evans will also be actively involved in the firm's women@aar program in Brisbane, a program designed to foster networking, communication and career development opportunities for women in each of the firm's offices. 'A number of women, including Erin, have acted as influential mentors to me over the course of my career and I am very excited to be back in Brisbane and working again with Erin.' Ms Evans was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland in 1998, and in New South Wales in 2004. Ends For further information, please contact:
