Allens recognised as HR leader
23 October 2009
Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) has been recognised for its leading HR initiatives and teams at the annual HR Leadership Awards, held in Melbourne last night.
Chief Executive Partner Michael Rose won the Neller HR Champion (CEO) Award for leading the firm's innovative HR programs over the past 12 months, including the firm's Reconciliation Action Plan and Women at Allens initiative.
The Award recognises CEOs and Managing Directors for their contribution to HR. It is awarded to a chief executive who demonstrates leadership in relation to people strategy, has an inclusive management style and who shows personal leadership and integrity in driving diversity and flexibility.
Allens was also a finalist in two other categories. People & Development Director Susan Ferrier was a finalist in the HR Partners Award for Best HR Leader and the firm was a finalist in the Mastertek Award for Employer of Choice (more than 1000 employees).
Susan Ferrier accepted the award of behalf of Michael, who was in Perth.
In her acceptance speech, Ms Ferrier said that people were at the heart of the firm and at the heart of the firm's strategy.
'Without Michael's leadership, sponsorship and support, my team and I would not have been able to deliver the wide range of people programs in the past two years since Michael became Chief Executive Partner - including career development, learning, flexibility and diversity activities,' Ms Ferrier said.
'It's a very positive reflection on the firm as a whole that among the other finalists were large organisations from a range of industries.'
Allens has also been nominated for two more HR awards at the Australian HR Institute Awards, to be announced on 11 November. We have been nominated in the categories of Responsible Restructuring and Corporate Social Responsibility.
