Bloomberg ranks Allens as number one Australian/New Zealand IPO issuer adviser

10 January 2008

Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) has been ranked the leading Australian/New Zealand IPO issuer's adviser, by volume, in Bloomberg's 2007 league tables.

For the second year in a row, AAR acted as issuer counsel on Australia's largest IPO of the year, advising Boart Longyear on its A$2.7 billion IPO. In 2006, AAR advised Dyno Nobel on the largest IPO of the year.

This result caps off a year where AAR's equity capital markets team acted on the largest deals in the market. As well as advising on the Boart Longyear IPO, AAR advised Newcrest on their A$2 billion entitlement offer, which was the largest capital raising ever by an Australian mining company; Hutchison Telecommunications on the A$2.7 billion rights issue; Zinifex on its A$4 billion IPO of the newly formed Belgium entity, Nyrstar; and Westpac on its IPO of BT.

AAR partner Robert Pick, co-head of AAR's equity capital markets practice group, said: 'To have acted on so many large and high profile capital markets deals over the past two years is a great achievement for our team and testament to the quality and depth of our practice.'

Co-head of equity capital markets partner, Alex Ding also commented: 'We expect 2008 to be another interesting year in the capital markets, and our team is already working on several capital markets transactions which will further cement AAR's leading position in the market.'
