Allens Arthur Robinson Partner 'Dealmaker of the Year'

Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) Partner Ewen Crouch has been named 'Australian Dealmaker of the Year' at the 2006 ALB Australasian Law Awards.

Among a total of six awards including 'Australian Deal of the Year' and 'New Zealand Deal of the Year', Ewen Crouch was judged the outstanding rainmaker in the Australian legal services industry over 2005. Ewen is Co-Head of AAR's Mergers & Acquisitions Practice.

AAR Managing Partner Tom Poulton said: "Our deal teams are extremely dedicated. I am very pleased that this commitment has been recognised with these awards. We are continuing to build on our good results already achieved in 2006.

"Ewen Crouch is an outstanding lawyer and adviser. He has built that trusted adviser relationship with clients that enables the firm to provide them with excellent levels of service. Ewen's award is well deserved," Mr Poulton said.

Mr Crouch said: "It is a great honour to be recognised in this way and it reflects well on our team. The market demands that we be able to move very quickly, without sacrificing quality, and that requires great teamwork, expertise and commitment, as well as very timely support from the firm's other experts.

"A highlight for me was working with GPT's leadership group. I think it is unique in Australian corporate history that an organisation can withstand two unsolicited merger proposals from very determined parties but propose a better alternative for its unitholders and win endorsement to forge its own future as a stronger, independent organisation.

"The most pleasurable aspect of this is to have the chance to provide opportunities for others and assist the energy and talent in the firm to achieve its full potential."

  • Equity Market Deal of the Year (SP AusNet)
  • M&A Deal of the Year (BHP Billiton - WMC Resources)
  • New Zealand Deal of the Year (INL - Sky TV)
  • Australian Deal of the Year (BHP Billiton - WMC Resources)

These awards continue a successful start for the firm in 2006, having also been awarded the Best Large Professional Services Firm of the Year, the Best Large Law Firm and the Best Queensland Firm in the 2006 BRW-St.George Client Choice awards. AAR has also been awarded an EOWA Employer of Choice for Women citation by the Federal Government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA).
