Allens Arthur Robinson continues its commitment to growth in Western Australia

02 April 2008

Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) has once again illustrated its commitment to continue growing its Western Australian practice with the appointment of Tim Lester as a partner specialising in corporate and finance matters.

Mr Lester, who began with the firm's Perth office on 12 March, joins Allens Arthur Robinson from Lovells, where he was a global partner from 2001 and managing partner of its Tokyo office from 2004.

Allens Arthur Robinson Partner and Perth Practice Director Nic Tolé said Mr Lester's background and experience would complement the Perth practice extremely well.

'Tim has a detailed knowledge of the Perth environment, having been raised and educated here. He's a highly ranked international lawyer in the corporate and finance fields and has proven leadership success,' Mr Tolé said.

'Western Australia is attracting an ever increasing level of international investment and businesses here are working with overseas interests more and more. These changing market dynamics require law firms here to offer their clients both local and global solutions.

'Together with the leading teams we have in place in Perth, we are confident that Tim's local knowledge, his international background and his highly regarded transactional experience will further strengthen our practice in Western Australia and assist with its continued growth.

'That lawyers of Tim's calibre are returning home to Perth – reinforces our long held view of the local and international importance of Perth as an emerging global centre.'

Tim's practice in the corporate and finance areas includes mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital markets, structured finance and corporate finance.

Tim joined Parker & Parker in Perth in 1992 before accepting a position with Lovells in 1995, working initially in their Hong Kong office before transferring to Tokyo, then to the London office and back to Tokyo , following his election to the global partnership in 2001.

Since 2006 Tim has led teams which completed deals with a transaction value exceeding $55 billion. He is widely recognised as a leading international lawyer and has received numerous awards for the transactions he has led, including being named 'International Dealmaker of the Year' at the 2007 ALB Japan Law Awards.
