Richard is a lawyer and registered trade marks attorney, with a science degree majoring in chemistry. He has acted in many of Australia's high-profile patent cases and in breach-of-confidence litigation, with particular experience in transactions in the chemical, metallurgical, and pharmaceutical industries.
He is a key adviser on legal issues in the commercialisation of research and development, and the exploitation of technology, including agreements on confidentiality, licensing, consultancy, collaborative research and development, and marketing and distribution.
Richard also advises on copyright, trade marks and trade practices issues, and litigation in relation to labelling, packaging and advertising, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical industries. In co-operation with other groups within the firm, he has advised on the structuring of joint ventures for the exploitation of intellectual property.
He is a past president of the Licensing Executives’ Society of Australia and New Zealand.
