Grant is a partner in the Tax practice. Grant has over 25 years' experience in the areas of business, corporate and international taxation, advising on financing transactions, project structures, infrastructure projects and mergers and acquisitions.

In recent years, Grant's practice has focused predominantly on advising both mining and oil companies on a range of income tax and resource rent tax issues. He has acted for a number of companies in disputes with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) in relation to resource rent tax and income tax matters.

He regularly advises companies establishing or acquiring operations on the optimum structure of their operations and on the taxation consequences of the transactions they are entering into.

He has advised many Australian and international petroleum companies in relation to a wide variety of petroleum resource rent tax (PRRT) issues, many of which have been the subject of dispute with the ATO.

Grant is a member of the Commissioner's Large Business Advisory Group and of the Consolidation Subcommittee of the National Tax Liaison Group.

Grant and other members of the Tax Group are in regular contact with officers of the ATO seeking rulings on behalf of clients and dealing with audit issues.

Before joining the firm, Grant worked with a large accounting firm and ran his own legal practice for nine years. He also has extensive experience in corporate law and banking.

Grant has written numerous articles for publication.
