Matthew heads up Allens' South East Asian dispute resolution practice in Singapore. He is a dispute resolution lawyer with specialist experience in handling legally complex and sensitive matters. He has a broad practice with particular emphasis upon insurance and reinsurance, banking and contractual disputes, corporate and white collar crime, regulatory investigations and international arbitration.
Matthew acts for insurers, retail and investment banks, manufacturing and resources companies and Government bodies. His experience includes, claims arising under contracts of insurance and reinsurance, advising on the wording of insurance and reinsurance policies, transactional and tortious liability disputes, regulatory investigations, advising clients on foreign bribery and corruption issues, class actions, fraud, property and leaseholder, resource contract, environmental and construction disputes.
In 2008 Matthew participated in the Garnault Review into the impact of climate change on Australia, with particular focus upon the risks of disputes arising from climate change and the impact upon the insurance industry.
In acting for clients Matthew focuses on providing solution-driven, commercially focused advice. His excellent grasp of the broader issues impacting on disputes enable him to achieve this.
Matthew has litigated in a number of fora, including courts and arbitration tribunals (LMAA, ICC and CAS). He also has extensive experience in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
