Matthew is a commercial litigation lawyer with specialist experience in handling legally complex and sensitive matters. He has a broad litigation practice with particular emphasis upon insurance and reinsurance, banking disputes, corporate and white collar crime and regulatory investigations.
Matthew acts for retail and investment banks, insurers, industrial companies and government bodies. His experience includes transactional and tortious liability disputes, investigations by ASIC and APRA, advising clients on foreign bribery and corruption issues, Commissions of Inquiry, investigations by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, class actions, fraud, property and leaseholder disputes, environmental disputes, allegations of breaches of trust and fiduciary duty and claims for indemnity under contracts of insurance. Matthew has also provided advice to clients in relation to the Litigation risks presented by climate change.
In acting for clients Matthew focuses on providing solution-driven, commercially focused advice. His excellent grasp of the broader issues impacting on litigation enable him to achieve this.
Matthew has litigated in a number of forums, including courts and arbitration tribunals. He also has extensive experience in formal mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
