Vacation clerks

We recruit vacation clerks from universities across Australia. In Perth we offer vacation clerkships in winter and summer which coincide with most university holidays. In winter, the clerkship is two weeks and in summer the clerkship is three weeks. We aim to allocate clerks to at least one of their first three practice group preferences, subject to the business needs of the firm at the time.

An intensive orientation program is undertaken (including library and research skills) and clerks participate in skills development seminars, departmental and practice group meetings and informal performance reviews. The program also incorporates information sessions by lawyers throughout the firm. There is also a more social aspect to the program, enabling clerks to speak with law graduates as well as meeting staff at all levels.

Applications are open to students who have reached at least their penultimate year of their degree.

Following the removal of the Law Society's Graduate Recruitment Monitoring Scheme, the law schools of Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, University of Notre Dame Australia and University of Western Australia have put together the recruitment dates for 2011. We confirm that Allens will adhere to the dates and recruitment process outlined below.

We pride ourselves on providing our clients with superior service and our culture places a high value on professionalism, integrity and individuality. We employ highly competent and creative people who strive to be experts and specialists in their field. Paralegals

From time to time we have positions that become available for paralegals. The opportunity to work in a large commercial law firm while undertaking your studies is both a challenging and rewarding experience. Assisting our lawyers on transactions, you may be required to research discrete areas of the law, contribute to advice work, draft statements or prepare other documentation.

Keeping in mind that your studies come first, we are flexible about the number of days you can work and the hours you commit to (also keeping in mind business needs).

Positions are open to any students enrolled in law degrees from second through to fourth year.

How to apply – Paralegals

To submit an 'expression of interest' for a paralegal position, please send us your covering letter, CV and academic transcript using our online application system. We will hold your application and will be in touch should a suitable position become available.
