Allens Arthur Robinson

Experienced lawyers

Although many people first join Allens as vacation clerks or law graduates, the firm also recruits qualified lawyers, both from within Australia and overseas. We look for well-rounded people with more than two years' experience and with the expertise to help us build our business in specific practice areas. For further information about what we look for in experienced lawyers, please visit our 'Why you?' page.

As well as the other benefits and opportunities we offered, we pay relocation costs for overseas and interstate recruits, assist with short-term accommodation, arrange visas and a living away from home allowance (if you are eligible) and coordinate requalification and admission obligations.

Salaries at Allens are highly competitive, reflecting the calibre of our lawyers.

Secondments

Secondments are a fantastic opportunity to broaden your skills, experience and learning. At Allens, we regard secondments as integral to your continued development and at any one time we have around 20 lawyers at any one time seconded to clients and around 60 lawyers seconded to different offices.

Leaves of absence

We understand that young lawyers sometimes need to take time out. With that in mind, we grant leaves of absence for up to two years so that our lawyers can pursue other professional and personal opportunities.

Having worked in a London or New York law firm or for the United Nations or having completed an honours thesis in history are only some examples of how our lawyers have used their leaves of absence.

Regardless of what you're doing during your leave of absence, at Allens we keep in touch with you through our alumni program.
