Allens has approximately 800 corporate services employees, including secretaries and WP operators.

We recruit recent graduates, as well as specialists who have worked within the legal sector or in other industries. A number of our corporate services employees are successful lawyers who have decided on a change of career and have been able to achieve this by changing roles within Allens.

We are committed to the ongoing training and development of all our corporate services people.

We have six corporate services departments:

Applied Legal Technology

The Applied Legal Technology department (ALT) provides leading-edge legal information and technology solutions for large-scale litigation and dispute resolution and for corporate transactions, and also provides paralegal and registration services. ALT is a multi-disciplinary team of technology, project management and legal professionals that makes sure Allens meets the ever-increasing demands the electronic age has brought to the legal industry.

Working closely with Allens' legal departments, ALT specialises in innovative database and document management solutions that ensure matters are run efficiently and cost-effectively. Some of those solutions include e-discovery services, electronic case preparation, electronic exchange of discovery databases, electronic courtrooms, real-time transcripts, dealrooms, transaction bibles and extranets.

Business & Technology Services

Business & Technology Services aims to deliver excellent service with a smile. We work as a team, and cross-skilling is encouraged in order to provide maximum client support and employee satisfaction. Our services include:

  • Business Services - management and maintenance of our many premises across Australia and Asia; welcoming and supporting our external and internal clients through providing reception and switchboard services, as well as meeting room co-ordination and a wide range of options for catering; making all the administrative arrangements necessary to keep a busy international firm functioning smoothly, from courier, fax and mail deliveries, to high-volume, high-quality document production, provision of stationery and management of the firm's extensive and dynamic records collection.
  • Technology Services - supplying and supporting business solutions through the use of technology, we provide a 24-hour helpdesk for our users throughout Australia and Asia and round-the-clock system operations to keep our services available and operating efficiently; construct and support new applications to meet our people's needs wherever they are throughout the world; purchase, supply and maintain a large and ever-developing range of state-of-the-art computer and audio-visual equipment and a complex telecommunications network; and provide a comprehensive training program to meet the needs of our users on all aspects of our systems. All the above is brought together with sound project management processes and tools.
  • Secretarial Services - enhancing the quality of service and skills the legal practice areas receive from secretaries and word processing operators, by providing guidance and advice to the legal departments on organisational matters, continuous improvement, operations and employee relations.
Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for the stewardship and governance of the financial framework within which Allens Arthur Robinson operates. We oversee regulatory compliance, financial reporting, risk management, systems and internal control functions, and provide strategic, value-adding advice to the partners of the firm.

Our vision is to play an integral role in leading the firm to achieve its Business Excellence and Profitability objectives by putting in place strategic initiatives, and delivering efficiency improvements in processes such as business planning, budgeting and forecasting.

People & Development

The People & Development (P&D) department provides strategic and operational human resources business advice to its clients, who are all employees and partners of Allens Arthur Robinson.

The vision of the P&D department is to play an integral role in leading the firm to achieve its people vision through the delivery of strategic resourcing, commercial advice and innovative solutions. The department aims to create a rewarding and supportive work environment that underpins the firm's values where there are outstanding levels of achievement, energy, career development and opportunity and where people are inspired to do their best every day.

Knowledge Services

The Knowledge Services department provides our lawyers with access to the legal resources they need to deliver excellent solutions for our clients: for example, books, online resources, precedent documents and business information. Our knowledge professionals and lawyers work in an environment of collaboration and knowledge sharing that provides the best possible solutions for our clients, an intellectually stimulating environment for our lawyers and constantly builds the intellectual capital of the firm.

Our Knowledge Services team works in the areas of knowledge management, library services, intranet and legal training.

Marketing and Client Services

Our Marketing and Client Services team works with our lawyers to build successful and long-lasting relationships with our clients and to identify business development opportunities.

They are responsible for branding, media relations, producing a wide range of printed material, developing web resources, managing client events and providing general marketing expertise.
