Global Compact

Allens Arthur Robinson is proud to be a member of the United Nations Global Compact, a global corporate citizenship initiative involving hundreds of companies around the world.

The Global Compact is designed to bring companies together with UN agencies, labour and civil society to support 10 universal environmental and social principles:

Human Rights

  • Principle 1 - Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
  • Principle 2 - make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour Standards

  • Principle 3 - Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
  • Principle 4 - the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
  • Principle 5 - the effective abolition of child labour; and
  • Principle 6 - the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment

  • Principle 7 - Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
  • Principle 8 - undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
  • Principle 9 - encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption

  • Principle 10 - Businesses should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.

The Global Compact seeks to promote responsible corporate citizenship so that business can be part of the solution to the challenges of globalisation and create a more sustainable and inclusive global economy.

Statement of continued support

Allens Arthur Robinson is a signatory to the Global Compact and reiterates its support for the 10 principles. We are pleased to work with the United Nations to improve the awareness of, and performance in:

  • the protection of human rights;
  • the protection of labour in the workplace; and
  • environmental responsibility.

Allens Arthur Robinson demands the highest ethical standards from its employees and partners. These ethical standards support the 10 principles of the Global Compact while also improving our client service, increasing trust in our business and in the legal industry generally.

As part of our commitment to Global Compact, we have agreed to prepare a regular Communication on Progress report. For more, download the July 2007 report (77KB).
